Edge browser adds Citations feature to help students better manage and produce citations for online research

Microsoft Edge recently added a feature called Citations to provide students with a better way to manage and generate citations for online research. Wikipedia can be a treasure trove of research citations and links. However, sometimes it is more beneficial to find the source directly. It seems that Edge’s Citations function hopes to further simplify the research process.

According to the content of the Windows blog, the Citations function will be used together with the highlights function of the Edge browser. Saved websites and articles will now automatically generate citations for students and researchers to refer to later.

At present, the Citations function is still in the early preview stage. The function of automatically extracting and creating citations only supports certain designated academic websites and research journals. However, Microsoft may expand this list in the future. For unsupported websites, users can manually add the required information to generate citations.

Now, this feature is only available in the Microsoft Canary Development Channel, and only for 95 and above, but it is still a relatively easy-to-obtain project. In the Edge collection, there is now a Citations toggle button, located under “…”. When you select the quotation mark icon on an article saved in its collection, you can view the quotation.
