GTA Trilogy: Too many problems resulted in an incredible review bombing

GTA Trilogy, the collection that includes the first three 3D chapters of the famous Rockstar Games saga, is not having a good time. The launch was in fact a disaster, especially on PC, where players are currently unable to download or purchase the package, after a Rockstar client blackout that lasted over 24 hours. Unfortunately, this sentiment has resulted in a gigantic review bombing on Metacritic, also thanks to some obvious defects of the title.

In addition to all the technical problems that are keeping PC users away from GTA Trilogy, the collection has been rated very badly for Nintendo Switch. The version for the hybrid console of the Kyoto house, in fact, fails to satisfy the players. Some call it a collection for mobile, others instead of a simple port of the PlayStation 3 version, full of bugs and glitches. However, the same criticisms also arrive for the other versions and everything is considered too superficial a job to be sold at full price.

Clearly, the review bombing by users is explained by all the disappointment and hope they had placed in a perhaps better product. GTA Trilogy, however, was also badly evaluated by specialized critics: at the time of writing, in fact, the Nintendo Switch version fails to exceed the Metascore of 40, with VGC and Nintendo Life marking the first (and only) two shortcomings. The PlayStation 5 version got a 70, but only the Gameblog.fr review is present, while the PC and Xbox versions have not yet been reviewed.

Probably no one, between audiences and critics, as well as Rockstar itself expected a launch of this kind. We don’t know how much leeway the team will have to fix the GTA Trilogy, but it’s a real shame to see a remaster of three games that are so iconic and have helped set the rules for how to create an open-world game being plagued by problems and problems. management of the release date is not really by the book.
