Facebook may finally have to fix one of its most annoying features

If you have ever opened Facebook and are immediately frustrated with the way it displays new content, you are not the only one. Some users have even found a way to disable it completely. This company-now Meta-has have been adjusting the News Feed algorithm for years. And almost every update is as bad as the last time. However, a fix may be coming, as Facebook is testing to give users more control over how they see new content on their feed.

There are currently no official plans to release the features Facebook is testing, but the company did publish a blog post about these changes. According to the blog post, a small percentage of users will begin to see adjustable preferences. They can then use these preferences to increase or decrease the content they see from specific friends, groups, family members, and web pages they connect to.

Meta also pointed out that it will also make it easier to access existing controls. These controls include favorites, pause, unfollow, and reconnect settings. Like the News Feed changes, Facebook plans to test these features with a limited number of users first.

History Repeats Itself

It is unclear how big these changes to Facebook’s News Feed will be. But if they give users more control over their feed itself, then this may solve one of the biggest problems users have with social media platforms. Of course, this also ignores all other problematic things for which it is accused.

This is not the first time Facebook has changed the status quo. As early as October, the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that he wanted to re-adjust the website to attract young audiences. This will require a huge operational shift, but users have not yet seen it. This is not the first time Facebook has changed the platform this year.

Earlier in 2021, the social media giant added ways for users to change who can follow them. They can also decide who can see their posts and who can comment on them. Although this is a welcome addition, it does not solve the biggest problem that plagues Facebook users-News Feed is full of stories they don’t care about.

If the test here proves to be successful, then users can see a new imaginary News Feed at some point in the future. At present, it is not clear when the future version will appear.
