Facebook Messenger Windows 11/10 Beta version adds support for native UWP controls

According to the latest reports, Facebook has been working hard to develop the desktop version of the Messenger application, adding new features on a regular basis. Today, the company released a major update to the Messenger Beta application, and this update removed its Electron foundation and transferred it to the new React Native platform.

According to WBI, this update has upgraded the application version number to 1320.11.119.0, bringing the following improvements.

  • The new application- the Messenger application for Windows 10 and Windows 11 has been rewritten by Facebook: it now uses many native UWP controls, is faster and uses more optimized resources.
  • The application has been rewritten in React Native and was previously made with Electron.
  • Moving to a more native solution improves application performance and reduces system resource consumption.
  • Messenger now uses the native controls of the typical Windows GUI instead of using a custom solution.
  • The app is now 100MB less in size than the old version.
  • Bug fixes and various improvements.
