Infinite Expanse and other MR features are decentralized to the Windows 10 platform

Recently, Microsoft has decentralized some of the Mixed Reality features that have been launched in Windows 11 to the Windows 10 system. Starting from November 22, 2021, Windows 10 Version 2004 and above can get the Infinite Expanse function, SteamVR launch with Mixed Reality Portal, and a brand new launch experience.

Infinite Expanse

  • A new virtual home environment for Windows Mixed Reality devices. Its characteristic is that it has been greatly reduced in scope and size, and reduced to a single-stage, rather than the more feature-rich Cliffhouse.
  • The design of Infinite Expanse focuses on performance and aims to meet the long-term requirements of users for the Home environment with low resource consumption, thereby helping users to obtain the best performance from games and experience. This brand new virtual Home environment can be found in the Pins panel of the Places menu.

SteamVR starts with Mixed Reality Portal

  • The new setting can automatically start SteamVR when WMR starts, allowing you to bypass the WMR main space and jump directly into SteamVR.
  • This new setting can be found under Mixed Reality>Startup and Desktop>Autostart in the Settings app.
