The British Fashion Council launches a new Metacosmic Design award for Roblox Design

As part of its annual fashion awards, the British Fashion Council will add a new category in 2021: the Metacosmic Design award. Although it sounds broad, the award was actually established in collaboration with Roblox, so the shortlist is limited to five Roblox electronic character creators. The winner of this issue, cSapphire, runs an in-app clothing boutique.

In keeping with the virtual runway in 2021, the award will be presented in Roblox by the incarnation of Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele (pictured above). Players will even be able to explore a virtual Royal Albert Hall and watch the awards ceremony. Model Karlie Kloss, one of the judges, said in a statement: This unique meta-space created by BFC and Roblox represents the future of fashion. It is so interesting to be part of such an innovative experience.

Although this is a publicity stunt, this virtual event is part of the continued integration of gaming and fashion. Gucci previously created a surreal fashion experience in Roblox, as well as some virtual sneakers, and cooperated with the e-sports organization, 100 Thieves. At the same time, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Longchamp have all designed in-game costumes for games such as Fortnite and League of Legends.
