Users report that Pixel 6/Pro is connected to DJI drone/camera with black screen

According to the latest reports, some users reported that Google’s latest Pixel 6/Pro series flagship phones seem to be incompatible with DJI’s devices. DJI is one of the most popular drone manufacturers in the world. The company also sells a large number of camera gimbals, action cameras and other equipment.

Mobile phone users can control DJI’s drones/cameras through DJI Fly and Mimo App. Users report that the current version of DJI Fly and Mimo App cannot display a real-time preview on Pixel 6/Pro, and the video is only a black screen. However, GPS data and transferred video files are still valid, but real-time video cannot be viewed.

Complaints about this issue have appeared on social media and on DJI’s support forums. An administrator of DJI’s official forum stated that users affected by this issue can borrow or use another compatible mobile device instead. DJI’s official Twitter said last week that Pixel 6/Pro is still undergoing compatibility testing, so there is no timetable for when Pixel 6/Pro users can use drones and cameras.

DJI also did not disclose the cause of the software error, but considering that Pixel 6/Pro is currently the only mobile phone equipped with Google’s Tensor chip, the custom CPU and GPU architecture in Tensor may conflict with DJI’s real-time video encoding.
