YouTube on Google Chromecast revolutionizes content browsing

Last year Google revolutionized the experience offered by Chromecast with the launch of the new generation based on Google TV, thus transforming this device into a real box dedicated to streaming multimedia content. But the work of the team of developers of the Mountain View giant aimed at offering an increasingly better experience to those who have decided to buy one of these devices has certainly not stopped and in the past few hours, the company has announced important news concerning YouTube.

The smartphone becomes the YouTube remote on Google Chromecast

In particular, the efforts of the Google team focused on the navigation system between the contents available on YouTube and on improving the interface. Instead of displaying a generic splash screen, the classic TV UI for the streaming platform is shown, and since Chromecast devices don’t have a physical remote, the YouTube app automatically transforms into a virtual D-pad, so you can allow browsing of videos and playlists.

This is undoubtedly a significant improvement over the classic method of selecting and transmitting content and, although at the moment it is limited to a single app, one wonders if the Mountain View giant is considering the possibility of allowing other streaming services, such as Netflix, to add their own user interfaces. Without a doubt, this hypothesis would guarantee a marked improvement in the overall experience offered to users by Chromecast devices.

At the moment it is not clear if the new function has already been released for all users or only for a part of them but in a few days its implementation should be global.
