After a period of waiting for major improvements to the Android version of Microsoft Launcher, a new update is now rolling out through the Google Play Store. If you are not part of the test plan, you can now try the news feed redesigned by Microsoft Launcher and the new transparency effect similar to Windows 11 mica.
As you may know, Microsoft Launcher has always been a core part of the company’s application suite on Android. Microsoft Launcher looks very different from the Android launchers used on Samsung and Google phones, and it matches the look and experience of the new Windows operating system.
Like other Android launchers, Microsoft Launcher is also customizable. It contains a widget page and a built-in news source provided by MSN. It also supports extensible Dock, application icon customization, and deep integration with Microsoft To-Do, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Calendar and many other services.
With today’s update, Microsoft has introduced a new and more modern look to the entire launcher experience. As you can see in the screenshot above, Microsoft Launcher uses a mica material style similar to Windows 11, which can blur the background wallpaper.
