CDPR revealed in a recent interview that they never planned to let V and Jack perform more tasks in Night City because it has no real tension, the team accelerated this part of the speed to make it quickly into the mainline. (Warning: The following content contains spoilers)
Although Jack appeared in almost every trailer of Cyberpunk 2077 before the release, he didn’t have much role in the game. The six months between the protagonist V and Jack were quickly skipped in the form of a montage, which convinced some fans that the original purpose of CDPR was to make these tasks playable in the game, but they were later deleted.
In an interview with Story Mode, senior designer Paweł Ochocki refuted this speculation. He called this chapter one of the fans’ one of the most controversial moments in the game, but the studio’s purpose was to make Johnny Silverman appear in V’s mind.
Paweł Ochocki said: We always think that this sequence is like this. We want to speed up the development of the story. From the perspective of the script structure, if we let V spend six months with Jack, then the real action At first, that (story) was too long.

According to him, when you get Johnny Silver’s chip and insert it into your head, Cyberpunk 2077 will start to become interesting. He said: Expanding the game before this part of the content is not in line with what we want to tell you later. Complete missions around the city with Jack… This is just an open-world mode, and there is no specific setting for the character. Goals or conflicts are like this guy wants to make money—there is no real tension. Once you die, the cyber-terrorist from the past appears in your mind, and the tension will arise spontaneously.
CDPR does not want to repeat the “GTA” model in Cyberpunk 2077. Its goal is to become an immersive RPG game about the protagonist and his inner conflict. But before the game was released, many players felt that they had a great connection with Jack because of marketing promotion, so his absence in the game afterward became very strong.
