Tesla revealed to replace defective Model S/X/3 cameras and has not voluntarily recalled

According to internal service documents distributed by Tesla at the end of November, the company is replacing the front fenders of at least hundreds of Model S, X and 3 vehicles produced in Fremont, California. Relay camera, but Tesla has not yet initiated a voluntary recall.

Internal documents show that the relay cameras on some Model S, X and 3 models produced by Tesla in the United States use defective printed circuit boards (PCBs). A bad PCB can cause the camera to lose electrical continuity, failing long before reasonable expectations that the camera may need to be upgraded or replaced.

The relay camera is located below and slightly in front of the side-view mirrors of some Tesla cars’ front fenders and can realize assisted driving functions such as Autopilot, Autopilot navigation, and smart summoning. They can also help the driver see what is happening around the blind spot of the car.
