Samsung accelerating the commercialization of robotics technology

According to South Korea’s Asia Daily Weibo, after LG Electronics and Hyundai Motor, Samsung Electronics also began to catch the rapid development in the field of robotics. Recently, Samsung Electronics adjusted the Robot Business Support Task Force (TF), which was established less than a year ago, to the Robot Business Group, operating as another permanent division of Samsung Electronics. This move shows that Samsung intends to commercialize robotics technology and generate revenue for the company by setting up a dedicated department.

The industry believes that the importance of the robotics industry is increasing, and the robotics market will also achieve rapid development. In 2017, the global robotics market reached US$24.5 billion. According to an average annual growth rate of 32%, by 2025, this market will reach US$177.2 billion.

In August of this year, Samsung Electronics stated that it would invest 240 trillion won in three years for the development of semiconductors, biology, communications, AI, and robotics. Through this departmental adjustment, Samsung Electronics is expected to formally enter the robotics industry and become another potential company after LG Electronics and Hyundai Motor in the field of robotics development.
