Tesla Model Y won IIHS Best Safety Award

To win the Best Safety Award of IIHS, the vehicle under test must have a good rating in six collision avoidance tests, including a small overlap frontal crash test on the main driver’s side, a small overlap frontal crash test on the passenger side, and a moderately overlapped frontal crash test, Car side impact test, roof strength and headrest test.

In addition, the tested vehicle must also be equipped with a front collision avoidance system to be able to obtain a higher score in the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian crash test. Vehicles also need to perform well in headlight crash tests.
