Tesla FSD Beta 10.8 running video revealed

Tesla just launched their 10.8 full-self driving (FSD) software on December 24. As usual, people can immediately see a video showing the operation of the software.

The content of the 10.8 update log is as follows:

  • Improved the object attribute network to reduce false cut deceleration by 50% and lane assignment error by 19%;
  • Increase the response delay of photons to the control vehicle by an average of 20%;
  • In Autopilot, the use range of regenerative braking has been expanded to 0mph to achieve smoother parking and improve energy efficiency;
  • By adding more automatic labeling and simulation training examples to the data set, the lateral speed error of VRU (pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, animals) has been increased by 4.9%;
  • Improve the speed estimation of objects at the end of visibility to reduce the false deceleration of passing objects;
  • Cross-validate the lane allocation of the object by adding geometric checks to reduce false decelerations;
  • Improved the speed curve of an unprotected left turn when visibility is low;
  • Increased bias towards more natural behaviors on the bike lane during right turns;
  • By better-simulating parking areas with soft and hard deadlines to improve the comfort when giving way to people who cross the road indiscriminately;
  • Improved the smoothness of merge control and better modeling of merge points and ghost objects located at the edge of the visible;
  • Improve overall comfort by implementing stricter lateral tic limits in the trajectory optimizer;
  • Improved short-term lane change through richer trajectory modeling;
  • Improved the integration between leading vehicle overtaking and lane change clearance selection;
  • The visualization of the trajectory has been updated.

As always, despite the precise changelog, these changes are more subjective, with commenters reporting that driving has become smoother, more confident, and less intervening.
