In Russia, Netflix will be obliged to broadcast 20 state TV channels

Roskomnadzor, the Russian regulator for internet and telecommunications, will ask Netflix to stream a series of state TV channels: the decision was made after the platform was included in the list of audio and video services of the institution and the provision refers to all applications that can count more than 100,000 unique users per day. A number that Netflix obviously reaches easily even in Russia.

The US company will have until March 2022 to adapt, from that moment on it will be obliged to insert within its screens also the windows to recall the broadcasts of the main Russian channel, Channel One, of NTV which mainly offers contents of entertainment but also of Spas, in the canal of the Russian Orthodox Church. In total, 20 channels will have to be added.

Added to this is the obligation for Netflix not to publish all the content that could promote extremism, a formula that has been considered by many as a system to prevent hostile messages from being passed on to the government, such as support for the opposition.

For some time now in Russia, there has been a growing number of problems involving the big names in US technology: at the end of November, Netflix had always clashed with the government for some content, risking a fine, while Apple has been around for some time. which carries out a wall against the wall on various issues, including payments through the App Store.
