Alt+Tab pages in Windows 11 use windowed instead of full screen

Windows 10/11’s window management is better than macOS, and now Microsoft has further enhanced the task switcher interactive experience. In Windows 11, users can quickly switch between open applications via the Alt+Tab keyboard shortcut. In the current version, it will be presented on full screen, and in the upcoming “Sun Valley 2” feature update, Microsoft will implement windowing.

In the newly released Windows 11 Build 22526 preview update, Microsoft has started to display Alt+Tab as windowed instead of full screen. As you can see in the image below, a row of app thumbnails appears in the center of the screen, similar to a small preview on macOS. If you hold down the Alt key and click the Tab key, Windows will move between the icons from left to right and vice versa.

Also, the blur effect is now more pronounced and the overall experience is better, as the Alt+Tab line now appears modern and matches the look or feel of Windows 11. This new Alt+Tab experience is available to a limited number of Windows 11 testers in the Windows Insider program. Most users probably won’t see the new Alt+Tab UI, which uses windowed mode for app previews instead of full screen.
