Starting this year, Samsung’s Tizen app store will no longer be available to new and existing users. Last June, the company closed registration and made the store open only to existing users, who could only get previously downloaded apps. After December 31, 2021, the Tizen app store will be permanently closed.
So, if you are using a Samsung Z series of smartphones, it may be time to switch to Android or iOS. The last phone to run Tizen was Samsung’s Z4 phone in 2017, so it’s an expected shift. After this year’s Galaxy Watch4 lineup runs on Google’s Wear OS, the company appears to be abandoning its Tizen project, as will all future Galaxy Watches.
