The method mentioned in the patent is mainly to create a solution for cloud gaming servers running on standard HDD hard drives. It is described as “satisfying to provide nvme-level data storage performance for online video game execution, while also continuing to use cost-effective HDD hard drive technology to store user data associated with online video games.”

The gist of the patent is that Sony is working on a cost-effective solution to HDD cloud gaming servers to run next-gen games that utilize high-speed SSD technology. They may plan to bring these games to their lineup of subscription services like PS Now.
