In a subsequent tweet, Yang changed his mind and said the infrared camera won’t be moved under the display until 2023 or 2024, suggesting that Face ID is coming to the iPhone. It’s worth noting that Ming-Chi Kuo, an extremely accurate analyst, has been claiming that Face ID won’t be moved under the display until 2023.
While the dual-hole design of the iPhone 14 Pro models won’t provide a completely seamless viewing experience, it will still be another step in that direction. And if Yang and Kuo are proven right, we could end up with a full-screen iPhone by 2023 that’s completely free of bangs and punch holes.
