Probably under the radar for many. Amazon brought a native Mac app to the Apple App Store in November 2021. Once you have logged into the app, you will see a website-like image. Users can access their purchases, as well as offline support and access to purchased or to-be-purchased content. Picture-in-picture and AirPlay are supported. Ultimately, a Mac-adapted app that originated on the iPad.
Amazon has now released version 2.0 of the Mac app and only mentions bug fixes and performance optimizations. However, it is the case that Amazon has also introduced Live TV in the iPhone and iPad app, i.e. public free TV can also be viewed in the app in addition to films, series and channels, not just on the browser as before. This change is also reflected in the Amazon Prime Video app on Mac.
