Halo Infinite Hotfix did not fix BTB matchmaking issues 343 apologies

Halo: Infinite’s Large Team Battle (BTB) multiplayer mode has been unplayable for a while: Large match pre-group players always have difficulty entering the game, and when players do, they are often disconnected. A patch for the issue went live today with minor tweaks to the service to improve squad matchmaking, but sadly, these tweaks have had little effect.

Today’s BTB patch doesn’t seem to be what we expected, tweeted Brian Jarrard, 343i community lead, “There are some small improvements, but the overall match problem remains. Thanks to those who have been working hard. People, we’re sorry this doesn’t quite get the job done. Work continues.

Several players on Twitter and Reddit forums have confirmed the failure of the fix. In fact, some players have reported new issues after installing the update, including sudden network delays and the inability to connect to game servers.

There’s no indication of when the new, hopefully, more effective update will roll out, but it sounds like it could take a while. One fan suggested that 343 suspend the daily challenge of big team fights until the issue is resolved, to which Jarrard responded on Twitter: “This is also under investigation given that this issue now appears to be lasting longer than expected. Stay tuned.
