Battlefield 2042 removed the newly added zombie mode because of the experience problem

Due to the problem of brushing experience, the new zombie mode of Battlefield 2042 was officially offline after only one day of launch and was replaced by the gun master mode. Battlefield 2042 Zombies mode issues are related to XP and changes made prior to its launch.

Players of Battlefield 2042 use Zombie Mode to quickly gain experience points, exploiting the vulnerability that zombies can’t get close to them. Considering that this vulnerability is related to the mode design, the mode has now been officially removed.

Justin Wiebe, senior design director at Ripple Effect studio, confirmed that the mode has been removed, saying that doing so will help the development team handle future Portal mode releases. Wiebe explained that because of the zombie mode, the team tightened the review process to ensure that something like this doesn’t happen again.

Wiebe also acknowledged that Zombies will take extra time to fix issues and that even without the experience issues, the mode won’t be released right away. According to Wiebe, Ripple Effect hopes to introduce a more refined Zombies mode in the future, but the priority, for now, is to figure out how to make the Zombie mode experience progress consistent with the non-portal mode.

After that, the team can revisit the gameplay and improve the game experience to make it better than before. Wiebe admitted that the team was ignoring whether the mode was ready for release because it wanted a fun zombie mode. Currently, Gun Master Mode replaces Zombies Mode, where weapons change over time and level up with kills.
