Apple fixes iCloud bug that caused third-party app sync issues

Apple appears to have fixed a persistent iCloud server issue that prevented some iCloud-enabled apps from syncing properly. The problem has persisted since November, and app developers have grown increasingly unhappy that Apple hasn’t worked hard to fix it.

Apps that previously had issues with iCloud had 503 error messages like Request failed with HTTP status code 503, but multiple developers have confirmed that over the past few days, those error messages appear to have disappeared. Tweetbot developer Paul Haddad said he has received basically no reports of iCloud sync issues over the past few days.

The iCloud sync bug appears to have popped up sometime around late November or early December, and it’s been a big headache for developers. App users experiencing iCloud sync issues didn’t know it was Apple’s fault, leading developers to blame.

Although most developers say that the synchronization problem has been basically resolved, there are still some complaints about related issues, so Apple may still have some issues to resolve.
