Microsoft has announced that it will begin rolling out new features to Windows 11 through Experience Packs next month. This is mainly due to the new modular design of the Windows system. Through Experience Packs and the Microsoft Store, Microsoft can release new features and updates to existing features faster without waiting for system updates.
In February of this year, Microsoft will launch a new experience pack that can be easily downloaded and installed to enable additional functionality. One of the new features in Windows 11’s Big February Update is mute and unmute functionality on the taskbar, which was tested in the previous Dev Channel.
The feature, originally teased at a June 2021 event, is designed to eliminate the need to switch back and forth between video conferencing apps. Currently, Windows 11’s taskbar microphone mute/unmute toggle only supports Microsoft Teams, but support for more apps may be added in the future.
In 2021, Microsoft began testing Windows Subsystem for Android on Windows 11 systems, allowing it to run Android apps natively (apps on the Amazon AppStore only), and since October 2021.
Microsoft has been testing this feature, and in the next, The Experience Packs, released this month, will be available to more users. In addition to the taskbar and Android app support, Microsoft also confirmed the launch of two new redesigned apps – Notepad and Media Player.
