Facebook removes a feature you may never have used

The team of Facebook developers is constantly engaged in improving this popular social network but, among the many innovations that are implemented over the months, from time to time it may also happen that some functions are removed instead and this is what is going to happen with profile videos.

We recall, in fact, that today users have the possibility to set a video of a few seconds instead of the classic profile image: this function, available for several years now, probably has not met the success hoped for by the Facebook team, at least that this is what the decision of the social network giant to remove it seems to suggest.

Facebook has decided to eliminate profile videos

According to what was announced by Matt Navarra with a message on Twitter, starting from Monday 7 February 2022 it will no longer be possible to set a video as one’s profile on Facebook.

Users are therefore invited to replace their video profile with an image by that date, otherwise starting from that day the social network giant will automatically replace the video with its cover image, which will thus become the profile photo.

At the moment the Facebook team has not revealed what are the reasons that led to the decision to remove this feature but it is likely that among them there is also (and above all) its adoption below expectations.

If you are among the users who have chosen to use a video instead of the classic image for your profile on Facebook, know that you only have one week left to “enjoy it”: from next Monday, in fact, you will have to go back to settling for a classic image.
