Tesla will recall a total of 53,822 Model S and Model X vehicles from 2016-2022, Model 3 from 2017-2022, and Model Y vehicles from 2020-2022, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall notice. Tesla shares rose 0.2% in premarket trading following news of the recall.

According to The Verge, a beta version of Tesla’s FSD Autopilot system allows owners to choose from three driving modes: “Calm,” “Normal,” and “Confident.” Confident mode allows the vehicle to follow other vehicles more closely, change lanes more frequently and roll through intersections.

If the system does not detect other vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists, the Roll to Park feature allows the car to drive through the intersection at 5.6 mph. But the feature only activates at intersections with adequate visibility and a speed limit of 30 mph or less.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has warned that entering an intersection without a complete stop could increase the risk of a collision, meeting with Tesla chiefs on Jan. 10 and Jan. 19, 2022, the latter 1 Reply on the 20th that the feature was voluntarily disabled.
