Google TV: Advice on watchlist for child profiles and more

As most of you should know by now, Google TV is not a completely new operating system for streaming content, but rather a kind of launcher for Android TV – with its own interface. According to 9to5Google, Google could soon introduce a restricted mode, but also a watch list for child profiles.

This information was taken from the current app version of the launcher (version 1.0.4233), where corresponding strings can be found in the program lines.

The restricted mode could therefore represent a kind of content filter on the home screen for the standard adult profile, which could be used to block the automatic playback of content that is not intended for younger eyes. However, this should only apply to free content, whereby it can be assumed that this means trailers and advertising-financed content.

The other innovation is that a watch list could soon also be created in child profiles on Google TV. This function will probably be painfully missing for some Google TV users at the moment if there are children in the household who also use the service.

Last but not least – and the information on this is unfortunately still very sparse so far – there could be “Google TV Channels” in the future, where there might be free streaming content, apart from the offer made by e.g. B. Pluto TV already exists.
