Gurman: New entry-level MacBook Pro coming this year with M2 chip, but no ProMotion

In the latest issue of the Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman brought some information about the new entry-level MacBook Pro with the rumored M2 processor. In order to differentiate the 2021 MacBook Pro from the M1 Pro and M1 Max Macs, Apple will make compromises in displays, processors and storage, Gurman said. Not only that, but this Mac will cut out the Touch Bar.

I think the new entry-level MacBook Pro will be separated from the high-end MacBook Pro by eliminating the Touch Bar, the main difference being less display, processor and storage, and no ProMotion or miniLED.

It will be a lot of Macs with M2 chips One of the newest additions, including updates to the 24-inch iMac, entry-level Mac mini and an improved MacBook Air.

As Gurman said, this Mac will likely have an LCD screen, which means no miniLED panels and no ProMotion support. On the other hand, the rumored MacBook Air may feature a miniLED display, but no ProMotion.

Additionally, not only will the entry-level MacBook Pro use the M2 chip, but the new 24-inch iMac, entry-level Mac mini, and new MacBook Air will all launch sometime this year.
