Apple has half of the U.S. headphone market

According to a recent study, nearly 50% of US consumers surveyed own Apple’s AirPods or Beats headphones. The study, conducted by Statista, surveyed 4,220 adults between the ages of 18 and 64 and asked them about their headset use. It was found that 34.4% of respondents responded that they were using Apple AirPods.

Although Statista’s survey did not further break down the AirPods line of headphones, what is more, interesting is that the brand with the second-highest share is also Apple-owned Beats by Dre (15.3%).

It was followed by Bose (12.5%) and Samsung (12.2%), JBL and Sony at 11.4%, Skullcandy (8.4%) and LG Electronics (7.0%).

It is reported that Apple launched the first-generation AirPods true wireless earphones in 2016, and subsequently provided higher-end AirPods Pro and new headset AirPods Max headphones.

And as early as 2020, Apple’s AirPods and Beats have dominated the wearable audio device market, with annual shipments reaching about 108.9 million.
