Google and Messenger have a long and somewhat confusing history. Whoever is responsible for these projects internally cannot decide which features they want to move where and whether it would be better to just throw everything over and start over.
The duo is also one of these candidates and therefore has no acceptance in my environment and also in the wider circle of acquaintances. However, Google prefers to focus on Google Meet because it is the platform that can be used to make money in a business context.
However, a breakdown at XDA Developers found out that Duo will probably get a few features from Meet. For example, there could be breakout rooms that can be used to break down group chats into smaller groups. Whatever reason you might want to use Duo for that. According to the code, a live streaming feature and the ability to record video chats are also in the works.

But in the end, wouldn’t you be better off ditching Duo and bringing Meet to devices instead? A code base with functionalities depending on the user group. Please leave your opinion.
