After the Global launch of the 9RT model, the time has come to aim for the real mid-range of the Chinese brand with the OnePlus Nord CE 2, in the pipeline. As the brand’s growth in sales shows, the Nord family’s strategy is working.
After having made itself well-liked by the community thanks to its top of the range, the company has decided to broaden its expansionist aims: no longer just top of the range, on the contrary, with a large production of mid-range smartphones, with 6 models in the ‘span of two generations. But now let’s stop the chatter and let’s find out all the news about the Nord CE 2 5G model, including confirmations and rumors.
The new OnePlus Nord CE 2 now has almost no more secrets. After the first unofficial renderings, the Chinese house has raised the curtain on design, revealing a “new” look for the brand but in part already seen. The lines of the photographic module partly reflect Nord 2 and the 9 series but also recall Realme GT Neo 2.
In addition, the photographic module is fused into the body, in the style of OPPO Find X3 Pro. Another great sign of the merger between the two brands. In a long post on the official forum, OnePlus explains some more details about the body of the Bahama Blue color.
The back of the device is made of opaque glass, with touch feedback similar to ceramic. Furthermore, the cover is obtained from a single piece and the photographic module naturally rises from the back of the phone through elegant curves. In short, it is a single block just as seen onboard the OPPO Find series models. In the case of the Mirror Gray color, on the other hand, we have a high-reflection finish, similar to a mirror.
Turning instead to the characteristics of the display, according to the various leaks we should find a 6.4 ″ Full HD + AMOLED punch-hole screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate and integrated ID sensor, just like the previous model. Nothing to do, again, for the iconic Alert Slider, which remains exclusive to the main Nord models (as well as the top of the range).
Hardware and camera
The hardware is also decidedly in line with the philosophy of the new generation Nord range. In fact, after a first chapter characterized by the presence of the Snapdragon 750, OnePlus Nord CE 2 a bandana Qualcomm to choose the path of MediaTek, adopting the Dimensity 900, as confirmed by the same company through the official teasers.
The 6nm chip includes an octa-core CPU (2 x 2.4GHz + 6 x 2.0GHz) and a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. For storage there would seem to be memory cuts from 8/12 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage, this time expandable via microSD.
Moving on to the battery, in addition to a 4,500 mAh module, we find a nice leap forward in charging; the range, in fact, passes from the 30W of the previous generation to the 65W fast charging technology, already confirmed by the teaser.
In addition, this model should introduce stereo speakers and keep the mini-jack input for headphones. The software should be directly Android 12 customized by the latest OxygenOS 12; however, the latest rumors speak of the launch with Android 11 (but with 2 later versions of Android and 3 years of updates dedicated to security).
And what about the camera? The brand has confirmed that we will find a compartment with three sensors, with the main one from 64 MP (it looks like OmniVision) with an AI video backlight system, while the other two, with wide-angle and macro, would instead be 8 and 2 MP. The selfie camera should remain at 16 MP.
OnePlus Nord CE 2 – Price and date of presentation
The presentation date of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G is set for February 17, 2022. The device will be launched for the Global market and will arrive in Italy on the same day. For the price instead, we expect a range that always goes between € 299 and € 349, as for its predecessor.
