Adobe announced that in Photoshop desktop version 23.2, Photoshop has fully supported the WebP file format, WebP files can now be opened, created, edited, and saved in Photoshop without plug-ins or other preferences.
WebP is a format developed to reduce the burden on websites and has a higher compression rate than the JPG format while maintaining image quality.
Since the file size is smaller than the JPG format, it can effectively speed up the display speed of the website. In addition to lossy compression such as JPG, it can also support lossless compression, transparency processing, and animation processing such as GIF.
To directly open and save WebP images in Photoshop 23.1 and below, you need to download and install the WebPShop plug-in.
