Halo Infinite ranked mode changes all player ranks reset

In the latest Halo Waypoint announcement, 343i Community Manager John Junyszek announced that Halo Infinite Competitive Ranked players will receive a mid-season rank reset. The announcement also stated that players can expect their rank to be a full rank lower than before due to adjustments to the gamer’s technical evaluation system.

According to Junyszek, 343i has determined that Infinite’s Competitive Player Skill Ranking (CSR) system was “too generous” within a few months of launch. This has resulted in an uneven distribution of players in Infinite’s tier competition, and 343i hopes its CSR changes will more accurately reflect players’ skill levels.

Additionally, 343i will reset the rank of all players, requiring them to re-enter placement matches. 343i assesses that most players are currently in a tier-one tier above their skill level, so “most players can expect the new positioning to be one tier lower (diamond to platinum, platinum to gold, etc.).”

The highest ranked Onyx players will be positioned at Diamond 5, and it is only a small rank away from returning to Onyx, but the competition here will be fierce.

Junyszek stated that 343i will reserve the right to make similar changes in the future: “That said, this is not the end of our changes to the ranked system, this is just the beginning.

There are more changes to be made, and we will continue to make changes based on your Updates with feedback and real-time game data.” The first round of changes will go live on February 22.
