Google: Many months before the new Pixel 7 models, the first concrete information has now come to light. Google is now about eight months away from presenting the Pixel 7 series and the first information is slowly leaking out.
This is not surprising, because Google doesn’t have a good level of secrecy and in the background, the development of the devices should have been in full swing for a long time. 9to5Google, which has excellent sources and a strong research team, has now been able to find some initial information.
On the one hand, the colleagues were able to find a new model number for the processor. GS201 clearly indicates that the second generation of the Google Tensor will be available this year for the Pixel 7 models. The new chip also has a new Samsung modem on board, which has not yet been presented at all. Details about this new modem are therefore not known. But it is certainly more powerful and has more efficient.
Pixel 7: Google developers have probably come up with the cat this year
Cheetah and Panther are the code names for Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, colleagues are sure of that. In both devices, the said Samsung modem is on a new Google Tensor 2. Meanwhile, Google can no longer decide which animal species must receive internal code names. For years before the Pixel 6, it had always been sea creatures, but last year it switched to birds and this year it’s obviously big cats.
Google is currently testing the new Tensor SoC in a Pixel 6. The code name Ravenclaw has appeared for this. A mix of the Pixel 6 codename and a reference to the Pixel 7 codenames. So this is not a third model, just an internal test platform. These existed even before the Pixel 6, back then in the form of an unbuilt Pixel 5.
