Google hasn’t raised the prices, but the dimensions. Current pixel cell phones are huge, so requests for smaller devices are growing. With the Pixel 6, Google reintroduced the XL model, but this time it prefers to call it the Pixel 6 Pro due to some differences.
However, it has not been ignored that the regular Pixel 6 brings with it decent growth compared to its predecessors. While the 6.4-inch display isn’t necessarily excessively large, the entire case is.
And there are still a great many people out there who crave compact devices for convenient one-handed operation. This is also due to the fact that Google offers a rather poor software solution for this. And we must probably hope for better software because there will only be minimally smaller devices on the hardware side.
Google phones: Pixel 6a is said to be more compact than Pixel 6
But you have to make the compromise that there is only mid-range hardware in some cases. According to insiders, Google is planning a Pixel 6a with a 6.2-inch display, giving the device external dimensions of 152.2 x 71.8 mm. It would then be over 6mm shorter than the Pixel 6 and 3mm less wide. Those aren’t the dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy S22, but not far off either.

If you look around the web, some are hoping for the Pixel 6a in reasonably compact dimensions. The details known so far are not officially confirmed, but come from a very good and established source. The Pixel 6a is due out in May.
The future is also interesting because manufacturers like Xiaomi and Samsung are actually getting a little smaller again. Their regular smartphones from the current top series are now a little handier again. Google could take this as an example for the Pixel 7 series.
