Microsoft is improving Windows 11 search speed and addressing accuracy issues

Starting with Windows 10, the search box has been fixed on the taskbar by default, allowing users to search for local files or folders. But it’s not that fast compared to searching directly in File Explorer or using a third-party alternative. In fact, Microsoft’s own PowerToys Run tool is faster than Windows Search.

Currently, Microsoft is speeding up the search with Windows 11 Build 22557 in the Dev channel program. Windows Search is still placed directly on the taskbar, and the interface has not changed. But attentive users will find that search results are displayed faster than ever, a process that takes only a second compared to the old version.

Windows Search also immediately displays automatic suggestions to complete tasks as quickly as possible. The performance issue with Windows Search was first raised in 2017, and now Microsoft is finally investigating the issue.

In addition to faster search results, users can also expect more accurate app or file suggestions when they type a keyword into the search box. Microsoft also fixed an issue where users couldn’t find new apps in search results for the first few seconds after installing an app.
