Google admits that some Pixel 6 phones will automatically disconnect from Wi-Fi, fix it next month

According to the latest report, Google responded to a Reddit user, saying that after installing a security patch earlier this month, some Pixel 6 users had problems with their Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections. The issue will be fixed with a patch next month.

After some investigation, we identified the root cause and determined that it affected a very small number of devices, Google said. Of course, we realized this was a bad experience and immediately developed a software fix, which will be released in next month’s Available in the Google Pixel update.

Google also said it advised users to contact its support team and “explore other solutions in the meantime,” but did not provide any details explaining what the other solutions were. 9to5Google notes that some users have found that installing the Android 12 L beta has fixed the issue, so this could be the other solution Google is referring to here. Additionally, Google spokesman Alex Moriconi confirmed in a statement to The Verge that the information outlined in the post was accurate.

Google’s recent system update was not so friendly to its flagship Pixel 6 and 6 Pro devices. Google pulled the first major update to both phones in December after users reported dropped calls. The January update fixed the bug but introduced new issues that caused some devices to randomly turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
