Tesla is sued by ex-employees, alleging racial discrimination and safety issues at the factory

On February 23, a former construction manager of US electric car maker Tesla filed a lawsuit against his former employer, saying he was fired for reporting widespread safety violations and racial discrimination at Tesla factories.

In a lawsuit filed Friday in Alameda County Superior Court, African-American Marc Cage said he had reported safety at Tesla’s Nevada battery factory. Violations, the risk of a massive explosion, and the company’s systematic failure to disclose serious work-related injuries.

“Tesla’s unrealistic production targets and frantic efforts to increase production are often made to fulfill rash promises while ignoring promises about employee safety,” Cage said in the complaint.

Cage also claimed that Tesla employees slandered and harassed him when he was fully aware of the company’s management rules and regulations.

“Virtually every restroom at Tesla’s Fremont factory contained racial slurs and slurs,” Cage said in the complaint.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the lawsuit.

Earlier this month, a California state agency filed a lawsuit against Tesla after some black employees allege they were racially abused and humiliated while working at the Tesla factory in Fremont, California Assigned to the most physically demanding positions.

The lawsuit says Tesla tolerates racial discrimination, but the company says the lawsuit is “misguided.” In addition to this, Tesla faces several other similar charges.

Meanwhile, the battle between Tesla and its chief executive, Elon Musk, and regulators has intensified. Various regulators scrutinized Tesla’s social media posts, the treatment of its employees and the testing of its self-driving assistance system on public roads.

On Tuesday, Musk accused the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of being layer after layer of “rotten onions.” A day earlier, Tesla had accused the SEC of leaking information from a Tesla-related investigation.

In 2018, Musk’s tweets about taking Tesla private brought himself and the company to the forefront, and also led to a lawsuit from the SEC, which eventually led to a settlement.

Tesla disclosed earlier this month that it received a subpoena from the SEC requiring the company to comply with a 2018 settlement. Last week, Tesla and Musk accused the SEC of investigating Musk for his outspoken criticism.
