Uber’s new Explore feature lets users discover nearby restaurants and entertainment

Uber started and quickly became one of the most popular ride-hailing services, allowing users to find taxis anytime, anywhere. It’s also one of the most convenient apps because it also allows users to avoid unnecessary walking.

Ultimately, the company decided to scale up and launched Uber Eats, a food delivery service built on the same infrastructure that lets users order food without actually going to a restaurant.

Now, Uber has decided to roll out another feature, Explore, which lets users discover nearby restaurants and entertainment venues, in select cities.

Uber announced in a Newsroom post that it will now bring the new “Explore” tab to a total of 15 cities. They are Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Memphis, Minneapolis-Saint Paul, New Orleans, New Jersey, Upstate New York, Orlando, San Antonio, San Francisco, Seattle and Mexico City.

Users living in these areas will be able to view nearby restaurants and entertainment venues through the “Explore” tab. The Explore tab also has a Ride Now feature that lets users book a ride to that specific destination without having to enter location information.

Further, Uber is also integrating Yelp into the new Explore tab. This allows users to see star ratings for restaurants and establishments to decide if the place is worth a visit. Given how reliant users are on the service, the app will also start showing them personalized recommendations based on their tastes.

At the same time, Uber is also offering up to 10% discounts on rides that get users to the places listed. Additionally, users can purchase event tickets and book locations directly from the app.

Uber mentioned that it is planning to expand the availability of the “Explore” tag to more cities in the coming weeks and months.
