Eight U.S. states, including California and Massachusetts, announced on Wednesday that they had launched a nationwide bipartisan investigation into ByteDance’s TikTok, focusing on whether TikTok Harm to the physical or mental health of young people.
The investigation will also find out how much TikTok knows about its role in perpetuating these harms. One of the focuses of the investigation is the methods and techniques that TikTok utilizes to increase engagement among young users, including increasing the amount of time spent on the platform and the frequency with which it is used.
