According to leaker R00R, the new Mortal Kombat game could be released in 2023 and will see a welcome return on the roster, that of Reiko, a character who first appeared in 1997’s Mortal Kombat 4.
The source has in the past revealed numerous details about Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11 ahead of time, as a result of which it has gained some credibility in the environment.
R00R states with a cryptic message that “Reiko is coming back” and sets an appointment for 2023 … that this is precisely the year of release of Mortal Kombat 12, with Reiko back on the roster?
For the moment it is only a hypothesis, we know that NetherRealm is developing a new game but we do not know if this is Mortal Kombat 12, in Justice 3, or a completely new title.
What is certain is that Mortal Kombat 11 is a success of over ten million copies and it is unlikely that Warner Bros will want to abandon a franchise that has returned so popular after a few years in the rear.
As for Reiko , after the debut in Mortal Kombat 4, the character has slipped away often appearing in non-playable form in titles such as Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Mortal Kombat Deception and Mortal Kombat (2011). A return of the character is certainly possible, although as mentioned to date it is only speculation without confirmation.
