US sales data from NPD arrive and Elden Ring emerges as the best-selling game for both February and 2022 in general so far, according to market analyst Mat Piscatella.
Elden Ring is, therefore, the best-selling game in February in the USA but also in all of 2022 so far, confirming the excellent launch of the new game by FromSoftware and Bandai Namco, able to surpass all other games released in the first two months of 2022, among which there is also Horizon Forbidden West among those of large caliber.
All this in the face of a general expenditure on video games which fell, in general, by about 6% compared to the same period of the previous year, however reaching 4.4 billion dollars in February 2022, as regards overall games, hardware, miscellaneous content and accessories.
US NPD PREMIUM GAMES – Elden Ring debuted as both the best-selling game of February 2022 as well as 2022 YTD. Launch month sales of Elden Ring were the 2nd highest for any tracked title released in the past 12 months, trailing only Call of Duty: Vanguard, released in Nov 2021.

There is still no precise data on how many copies have been sold in the USA nor a complete ranking of the best-selling games in February 2022, for the moment there is only confirmation that Elden Ring is the best-selling and also turns out to be the game most successful in this first part of 2022.
However, it was not a record launch: the copies sold at the launch of Elden Ring placed it in second place in the previous 12 months, were instead to dominate as the quantity of copies placed directly at the release is still Call of Duty: Vanguard.
