Google still has a few exciting projects up its sleeve, including various larger Linux programs for its own Chrome OS. Steam is one of them, some developers are working on it in the background. And there is definitely progress, as has become known again these days. In the past few weeks, the icon has been renewed. What you probably wouldn’t do if the project wasn’t alive.
At this point, it looks unlikely that Steam for Chromebooks will appear at the same time as the first real gaming Chromebooks. There is no date for this yet, but some interested users are definitely waiting for it. People who are watching the project more are currently talking about “measurable progress”. Unfortunately, official announcements are still pending.
