Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One can now download updates also in energy-saving mode: this is a feature so far limited to the simple standby of Microsoft consoles.
Waiting for the two Xbox Showcases scheduled for 2022, the platform of the Redmond house, therefore, continues to evolve also in terms of system software with an option that will save electricity.
“Now system and game updates can also be downloaded in power saving mode,” said Dave McCarthy, corporate vice president of Xbox operations.
“This mode consumes about twenty times less electricity than standby mode when the console is not being used or receiving updates.”
A question also and above all of the environmental sustainability, which goes hand in hand with the use of a higher percentage of recycled resins for the production of Xbox Series S, brought by Microsoft to a minimum of 28%.
The company has also activated a monitoring system on a small number of Xboxes in order to collect anonymous telemetry data that allows the study of further mechanisms useful for reducing energy consumption.
