What’s new in version 2.49.1.8 of the Google Home app for Android

With this release of the app, a redesign of the device grid is introduced , thanks to which the control of smart gadgets directly from the mainboard should become faster.

The team of developers describes the new feature as follows: “an updated initial view helps you to adjust your devices with fewer touches”. And this is the most detailed explanation provided by the Mountain View giant:

Quickly find what you’re looking for, dim compatible lights and change the music volume in seconds. Touch to turn a device on or off, swipe left or right to make adjustments and long press for more controls.

Instead of devices represented entirely by large icons, the new Google Home grid interface displays rectangular squares with rounded corners in which a device icon appears but with fully interactive buttons. Here is an example:

In practice, for users, the possibilities of managing the various smart devices connected with a simple touch increase: it will be possible to turn the lights on or off, play or pause multimedia contents, swipe right or left to adjust the volume and brightness, access a full page of controls with a long press.

This new interface has already been enabled for Android-based devices while for iOS it should become available over the next few weeks. You can download version 2.49.1.8 of the Google Home app for Android from APK Mirror ( find the dedicated page here ) or from the Google Play Store.
