The Chromium-based Edge browser has begun to “carry out private goods” more and more and has begun to integrate Skype Meet Now in the toolbar of the latest version of Edge Canary. In Edge Canary, Microsoft appears to be experimenting with a new way to launch Skype meetings directly from the toolbar. This button appears next to options such as Web Capture, Extensions, and Menus.
As you can see in the screenshot above, the Meet Now feature on Microsoft Edge simply lets you start a Skype meeting. Previously, Microsoft tried to enable the Meet Now button on the new tab page, but the feature was disabled. Now, the company has decided to incorporate the feature into the toolbar.
Naturally, there are ways to bypass these pre-installed apps. You can disable Skype Meet Now integration from your browser’s settings. There’s usually no problem disabling a few bloated features, but when the company keeps adding unwanted features to the browser, things get tedious. Additionally, some users have also seen ads or suggestions to set Edge as the default browser and Bing as the default search engine.
