Samsung has introduced new USB sticks with USB Type-C. With up to 400 MB/s read speed for models with 256/128 GB and up to 300 MB/s for models with 64 GB as well as 110 MB/s write speed, the USB flash drives offer comparatively fast access.
Unlike many other USB sticks, the new USB Type-C flash drives offer a connection for use not only on PCs and notebooks but also on smartphones, cameras and tablets. Added to this are performances of up to 400 MB/s read and 110 MB/s write speed via a USB 3.1 interface.
A 4GB file can be copied from the USB flash drive to a PC or laptop in at least 11 seconds for the 256/128GB models and at least 15 seconds for the 64GB models, according to Samsung. The memory sticks come in capacities of 64, 128 or 256 GB.
The new USB Type-C devices also offer 5-fold protection: neither water nor extreme temperatures should be able to harm them. They are also shockproof, magnet-resistant and X-ray proof (up to 100 mGy, equivalent to airport security systems).
In addition to USB 3.1. the USB Type-C is also backward compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 systems. As with all other USB flash drives, Samsung grants a 5-year guarantee on the USB Type-C. Prices? Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t mentioned it yet.
