Microsoft released a new March 2022 firmware update for Surface Laptop 3 with AMD processors. Brings battery optimizations specific to Windows 11, new drivers, system stability improvements, and more.
According to Microsoft’s official support site changelog, the March 2022 firmware update for Surface Laptop 3 with AMD processors brings the following:
- Improved system stability and fixed bugs that caused the blue screen of death.
- Improved compatibility with Surface Dock 2.
- New graphics driver with GPU stability improvements and bug fixes.
- Windows 11 features to improve battery life.
Microsoft has updated many Surface devices with a mysterious “Windows 11 feature” to improve battery life, but the company hasn’t explained how it works. Interestingly, Microsoft released the exact battery optimizations for the Intel-based Surface Laptop 3 in October 2021, just after Windows 11 was released. Microsoft says users can install the March 2022 firmware update for the AMD-based Surface Laptop 3 if their devices are running Windows 10 May 2020 or newer. Also, there are no known issues with this update.
