Apple launches Learning Coach program to teach educators to use Apple devices

Apple is launching Apple Learning Coach, a free professional learning program that teaches educators how to use Apple technology in the classroom and also includes setting up an upcoming Apple Education Community.

The new program will host what the company describes as “self-paced courses and virtual workshops” run by Apple Professional Learning experts. It aims to train “Instructional Facilitators, Digital Learning Specialists” and more.

We know that professional learning opportunities — from educators, for educators — are unlocking the potential of every student,” Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of education and corporate marketing, said in a statement.

Apple Learning Coach is designed to do just that, and we’re excited to offer this new program today. We’re also looking forward to bringing the new Apple Education community online, as educators interact with each other in A vibrant space for learning and connection.

We think educators will appreciate new features in classrooms and school work that make learning more interactive,” she added. The Apple Learning Coach program is free, and Apple says participants “leave with an actionable set.” They also have the opportunity to apply for continuing education credits from Lamar University, albeit at a Texas educational institution.

In the fall, Apple will also launch the Apple Education Community. It aims to be “the new hub for Apple’s professional learning resources, and a collaborative space where educators can connect and share ideas.”

As part of the new program, existing Apple Classroom and Schoolwork apps will be updated. Apple said the managed Apple ID, commonly used in education, will be integrated with Google Workspace, which was previously used by teachers.

Apple Learning Coach has been accredited by the International Society for Educational Technology (ISTE). U.S. educators can apply to join the Apple Learning Coach program between now and April 19, 2022.
