The report pointed out that from the second half of 2021, sales have grown rapidly, with annual shipments reaching 9 million units in 2021, achieving year-on-year growth of 309%. Among them, Samsung shipped the most, and Huawei ranked second.
Specifically, as of now, Samsung has shipped more than 10 million folding screen mobile phones, accounting for 88% of the sales of folding screen mobile phones. It is also the only brand that has sold over 10 million folding screen mobile phones.
It is understood that Samsung Galaxy Z-Flip 3 5G shipments reached 4.6 million units, which is currently the world’s largest-selling folding phone, accounting for 52% of the total number of folding phones in 2021. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G will become the second-selling foldable phone in 2021 with 2.5 million units.
According to Omdia, Huawei is the second-largest player in the folding screen mobile phone market, with a market share of 10%. Since Huawei launched folding screen phones in China earlier than other manufacturers, it has sold more than one million units so far.
Omdia pointed out that this year, the global folding screen smartphone market is expected to grow significantly from last year, reaching 14 million units. Sales are expected to grow steadily every year, reaching 61 million units by 2026, accounting for 3.6% of the total smartphone market.
